 Ros-Lehtinen Expresses Condolences to Taiwanese Affected by Typhoon Morakot
 
  (WASHINGTON) - U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Ranking Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, today expressed her condolences to the citizens of Taiwan, where mudslides and other affects of Typhoon Morakot have claimed over 60 lives.   Statement by Ros-Lehtinen: 

"I am deeply saddened by the loss of life in Taiwan caused by this terrible natural disaster, and my thoughts and prayers are with the families of those lost and with those who are still missing and suffering in the aftermath of Typhoon Morakot.

"Though it is my understanding that relief efforts have been hampered by the weather, I am heartened by the news that over 1,000 people have already been rescued.

"Rescue and recovery efforts will demonstrate the bravery and resilience of the people of Taiwan, and it is my most sincere hope that their work will be safe and lead to many more lives saved."
