| (WASHINGTON) - U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Ranking Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, today concludes her visit to Israel with a discussion about bias in the Palestinian media. She will also visit the Western Wall to observe the welcoming of the Sabbath.
This morning’s presentation by Palestinian Media Watch included examples from Palestinian media outlets controlled by the Palestinian Authority and Hamas. The clips illustrated the dangerous anti-Israel and pro-militancy messages which pervade Palestinian media, with many of them aimed at brainwashing children to hate the Jewish people.
“The violent venom being promoted by Palestinian media raises serious issues about the commitment of the Palestinian Authority and its leadership to counter and eliminate incitement to violence against the Jewish State of Israel,” Ros-Lehtinen said.
“Those who promote and condone such hate-filled propaganda are not legitimate partners for peace and, as such, should not receive a single cent of U.S. taxpayer funds,” she continued. “The cause of moderation and peace is not advanced by supporting those who cannot or will not deliver on their responsibilities.”
Ros-Lehtinen’s visit to Israel also included separate meetings earlier this week with Israeli President Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as well as meetings with other current and former Israeli officials.
Ros-Lehtinen also visited the southern Israel town of Sderot, where residents are on the front-lines of the battle against Islamist extremists who launch indiscriminate rocket attacks against them.
