Ros-Lehtinen to Speak Out on Anti-Israel UN report

(WASHINGTON) - U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Ranking Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, will speak tonight on the House Floor to voice her strong opposition to the “Report of the United Nations Fact Finding Mission on the Gaza Conflict,” which accused Israel of deliberately targeting civilians in its conduct of Operation Cast Lead last winter.  Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:

“Yet another UN assault against Israel is being launched this week via consideration of this ‘fact-finding’ mission’s biased report, which seeks to deny the right of self-defense to the Jewish State.

“Predictably, this terribly biased report was mandated by the rogues’ gallery known as the Human Rights Council.

“But facts were never on the agenda.  The indictment of Israel was prejudged and the focus of the report, while the true crimes – Hamas’s rocket and mortar attacks against Israeli civilians and use of human shields – were downplayed.

“The U.S. and all responsible nations must oppose any efforts to grant consideration or legitimacy to this irredeemably biased report.  We must support the right of Israel, the U.S., and all free nations to defend themselves and their citizens.”

Note:  The report will be considered by the UN Security Council today (Wednesday, October 14) and by the Human Rights Council tomorrow and Friday.
